First a tip: I'm a huge fan of Amazon but it is only fair to mention that you can get this lamp direct from Target stores as well. When I bought it from Target it was the exact same price in-store as it is listed here ($59 at the time of writing this).
The design is simple and the materials are not high-end but for the cost the lamp is stable and attractive. The shade is study and does a good job of softening a 60 watt bulb for a comfortable warm glow. The built in shelves are a nice touch as well. The unit also includes two zip ties which allow you to fasten the cord down one of the verticals - this helps to conceal the cord, particularly if you place the lamp in a corner. All in all the kit has more little touches than you would expect for the cost.
Installation is easy and require only a philips head screw-driver. Many have stated the instructions were not clear about the short lengths going on top - the instructions are spartan but they suffice. "
